Hi

Does anybody know how to put the server as "Instagib 1v1 Server, or I cant aim Sad"
If this is not complicated, I would like to put the server but do not know how.

It is not really complicated... if you know how. But I am afraid the documentation isn't all that great.

In short:

Download the NoGhost server side mod (911). http://www.noghost.net/modfiles/1.16/NoGhost_beta.zip

Create a new directory called NoGhost in your quake 3 directory and unzip the files from the server side mod in there. (dont place it in baseq3)
So effectively you have the file: c:\program files\quake 3 arena\NoGhost\NoGhost911.pk3

Then you need to create a server config. Or you can use my "I cant aim" config.

Copy paste it into a text file called server.cfg and save it in the NoGhost directory too.

Then you start the server like this: quake3.exe +set fs_game NoGhost +set dedicated 2 +set net_port 27960 +set com_hunkmegs 70 +exec server.cfg
Or you can create a batch file so you dont have to write it all down manually in the command prompt.

note: if you want to run the server pure. In windows you need quake 3 point release 1.15c, and in linux you need 1.11 but in 1.11 you cant run bots.

i find the statement that u cant run bots with 1.11 incorrect. the game came with bots. and u can run them both in single player + multiplayer + a dedicated multiplayer server. any version below 1.25 like 1.17 and lower requires a cd in the driver OR a cracked quake3.exe to be able to run bots. it just requires a "know how" in a hex editor (its just one byte change) and u can crack all versions from 1.11 to 1.17 to allow u to run a dedicated server with bots without using the hackish bot_enable workaround to disable bots to start a dedicated server. and besides i find it a little doubtful that 1.11 would be able to run noghost as noghost is game version 4 which 1.16 and probably 1.15c uses while 1.11 uses game version 3. if u try to run a mod with an unsupported game version it will just lead to a crash (hang on quake3.exe startup and a soft crash with a dedicated server). hope this helps a little. if u need a cracked version for any version lemme know. what i got is a crack i made of versions 1.11 and 1.16n to play the game without cd

Fine, razor is the only person on this planet who can run the 1.11 dedicated server executeble with the NoGhost mod with bots on linux. Even though he finds it doubtful that NoGhost will work on it while I run a few servers on 1.11 with NoGhost.

i technically didnt say that. what i did say was that the game version may differ which usually causes crashes. with a "game is version x, not y" message. unless the mod author added support for both 1.11 (version 3) and 1.16 (version 4) by allowing both version 3 and 4 to be loaded. will check if it works on windows too with an 1.11 server. EDIT: after some serverside testing with noghost version 911 running as the serverside mod the game definitely didnt crash on that so technically noghost may be supported with 1.11 too as u said. but it do crash with the following message "ERROR: Bad game system trap: 38". and btw. EDIT AGAIN: after testing moving the noghost pk3 to baseq3 and run it from there. the server ran without any problems with the mod (strange it wouldnt run properly from a mod dir. seemed to happen with other mods too with same message?)

i still stand with my correction of what u said about 1.11 not able to run bots. if u need a way to know how to crack this. then open a copy of 1.11 in a hex editor and look for the following bytes (my choice of free hex editor is hxd)

this is from the original exe. just replace 75 with EB and u have urself a no cd crack for single player and dedicated servers (this works with all versions)

i decided to post my cracked versions of 1.11 and 1.16n for windows i made back in january after i picked up quake 3 again after a long (offline) break. they are both compatible with bots as well. and about ur version para. what i think is that u run a cracked version already on the server (technically all unmodified 1.11 to 1.17 versions wont allow bots to be added to single player or a dedicated server without the cd in). in the changelog the cd check was removed in version 1.25

under 1.25:
"CD Check Disabled - Quake III Arena no longer requires the game CD to be in place before starting a single player game or before starting a multiplayer server that uses bots."

yeh you get that error when you add bots to 1.11. That's why it won't work. btw, an error is not a crash.
Why would I run a cracked version on a dedicated server executable. Or a better question may be. Why would they make a dedicated server executable that requires a cd. You do realise dedicated servers aren't located at home right? You can't really access a cd-rom drive.

Anyway, all this is terribly off topic. lol Go spam somewhere else Very Happy

ive loaded again q3 - I have the original version 1.30
I did what you wrote to this point:

1.16n is fine too. But then you can't run the server pure. (sv_pure 0)

It looks like you are still on 1.30. Try renaming or deleting quake3.exe and then install the 1.16n point release again.
